Comptroller's Name: Susan Combs

Comptroller Biography: Combs was born in San Antonio. She attended Vassar University and later University of Texas School of Law. She was an assistant district attorney in Dallas. She served two terms in the Texas State legislature and later won in 1998 and 2002 to serve as Texas Agriculture Commissioner. Combs was first elected comptroller in 2006.

Responsibilities: The Comptroller's office is the chief tax collector, accountant, revenue estimator and treasurer. It also offers business assistance, taxpayer assistance, handles the state's college savings plan, and handles unclaimed property for Texas.
