Comptroller's Name: John Radford
Comptroller Biography: After getting his
bachelors degree in General Business from the University of
Nebraska at Omaha, John has worked in the public sector for
over 30 years, starting at the City of Omaha, until 1983 when
he moved to Oregon and took the position as a Budget Officer in
the Oregon Judicial Department, and after two years he was
promoted to Management Services Director. He has served as the
Administrator of the Oregon State Controller's Division since
1989.
Responsibilities: The Oregon State Controller's
Division works to ensure that all state agencies are in
compliance with legal and ethical accounting and payroll
practices. In addition to producing the State's annual
financial statements, they process payroll and vendor payments,
secure the State's financial data, and are responsible for
investing the payroll fund, maintain the accounting and
purchasing systems. They also coordinate audit relationships
between the State and Federal Governments.
