Comptroller's Name: Neria R. Douglas
Comptroller Biography: Neria Douglas, a
graduate of Wellesley College and Vanderbilt University, has
been Maine’s State Auditor since 2005. She was elected to the
Maine Senate in 1998 and served as senator through 2004. She
has also worked as an attorney and prosecutor.
Responsibilities: The State Auditor reviews the
State of Maine's financial statements and expenditures and
conducts financial audits. The Department of Audit also
operates a hotline to allow individuals to report suspect fraud
and waste in the State government.
